Truett Bullock var uppvuxen i Tylertown, där han gick ut från högskolan 1936. Han var en allkunnig idrottsman och duktig i flera högskolesporter. Han låg också på hög nivå gällande skolarbetet och på skolans musikavdelning.

Truett Bullock was a native of Tylertown, where he graduated from the high school in 1936. He was an all-round athlete and lettered in several high school sports. He also rated high in scholastic work and in the music department of the school. He entered Holmes County College at Goodman, in 1936. There he was an outstanding athlete in football and track. |

Efter att ha tagit avgångsexamen från colleget våren 1939, började han på University of Alabama på hösten samma år. Vid universitetet i Alabama var han medlem i "A" Club och vann ett rykte över Södern som löparstjärna. Han var medlem av samfundet Pi Kappa Alfa och deltog i många college-aktiviteter, särskilt inom musik och college-sporter. Han gick med i flygvapnet medan han fortfarande studerande på University of Alabama. När hans utbildning på flera armébaser var klar åkte han utomlands i maj 1943. Han flög från baser i England och Skottland fram till sin död. Det var planerat att han skulle åka hem på tjänstledighet; Captain Truett K. Bullock har fått följande utmärkelser: Purple Heart, Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, with two oak leaf clusters, Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters and theatre ribbons of the American defense and European Theatre. Graduating from the college in the spring of 1939, he entered the University of Alabama the fall of the same year. At the University of Alabama he was a member of the "A" Club and gained a southwide reputation as a track star. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and participated in many college activities, notably in the musical field and intra-mural sports. He joined the Air Force while still a student at the University of Alabama. At the completion of his training in various army bases, he went overseas in May of 1943. He flew from bases in England and Scotland until the time of his death. He had been scheduled to go home on furlough; then he learned of the need of a crew for this flight and volunteered to do it. Captain Bullock had the following decorations: Purple Heart, Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, with two oak leaf clusters, Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters and theatre ribbons of the American defense and European Theatre. He is buried in the Tylertown cemetery in Mississippi. |
